The world has been facing the unprecedented urbanization ever since the end of the Second World War. Thousands of immigrants are rushing into cities everyday. Despite the increasing crime rate and reducing public space, the urbanization also affects the preservation of historic buildings. With their fabulous histories and maintenance of historical architecture, these buildings are worthwhile to be preserved. Regrettably, the functional mismatch between historic buildings and other parts of the cities as well as the alarmist high cost of preservation lead to either destruction or decline. In order to protect these “urban heritages”, some appropriate methods are strongly required in this paper.
